- This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent HR graduate to gain real-world experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, HR administration, reporting, and people technology while working alongside experienced HR professionals in our Meat Market business.
- The Youth Employment Service YES is a business-led initiative, in partnership with government and labour, that creates meaningful economic opportunities for young people and helps address South Africa's youth unemployment challenge.
- Through this 12 month programme, successful candidates gain valuable workplace experience, develop practical skills, and build a strong foundation for future career growth. This role offers an excellent platform to learn, contribute, and make a meaningful impact while gaining exposure to a broad range of Human Resources practices in a dynamic business environment.
What you'll do
- Support the recruitment process including job posting, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
- Assist with the onboarding of new employees, ensuring a smooth and welcoming induction experience.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Maintain accurate HR records and assist with HR administration tasks.
- Assist in preparing HR reports and analysing data to support decision-making.
- Support the implementation and use of people technology systems and tools.
- Collaborate with experienced HR professionals to learn best practices and develop practical skills.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and employee experience.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and labour legislation.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.
What you bring
- A recently completed degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in developing a career within Human Resources and gaining practical workplace experience.
- Basic understanding of recruitment processes and employee lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and willingness to learn HR information systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take initiative.
- Knowledge of South African labour legislation and compliance is advantageous but not essential.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to learning and personal growth in the HR field.
