We are looking to recruit x3 (Three) permanent Warehouse Supervisors (Checking department - wholesale) to work for United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD) Cape Town. The role will be based at the Cape Town branch and will report to the Department Manager.
The candidate must be able to work shifts rotating weekly between Day, Afternoon and Nightshift. Duties & Responsibilities
Job Purpose
• Responsible for ensuring and serves as final quality gate control before dispatch. The role ensures that every order leaving the warehouse is accurate, complete, compliant and ready for delivery thereby protecting customer service levels, reducing claims, and supporting operational excellence. Job Objectives: 1. Verify Order Accuracy
• Ensure that all picked orders match customer invoices and picking documentation. • Confirm correct product, quantity, batch, and expiry dates where applicable. • Identify and correct picking errors before dispatch. 2. Manage the Checking Team
• Supervise checkers and quality control staff. • Allocate work and monitor productivity. • Provide training and coaching on checking procedures and SOPs. 3. Quality Assurance
• Ensure products are in good condition and free from damage. • Verify that products meet customer and regulatory requirements. • Prevent damaged, expired, or incorrect stock from being dispatched. 4. Minimize Customer Claims
• Reduce shortages, oversupplies, and incorrect deliveries. • Investigate recurring checking and picking errors. • Implement corrective actions to improve accuracy levels. 5. Compliance and Process Adherence
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, GDP requirements, and quality standards. • Maintain accurate checking and audit records. • Support internal and external audits. 6. Performance Monitoring
• Monitor order accuracy and checking productivity. • Track and report dispatch discrepancies and customer complaints. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the checking function. 7. Coordination Across Departments
• Liaise with Picking, Inventory, Dispatch, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service teams. • Ensure discrepancies are resolved before orders leave the warehouse. 8. Health and Safety
- Ensure staff comply with health and safety requirements.
- Promote good housekeeping standards within the checking area.
- Monitor safe handling of stock and equipment.
Job related knowledge and skills
• Computer skills on MS Office (Word and Excel Level 3) • Product knowledge • Financial understanding - budget. • Experience in Warehouse Management System (KNAPP and SAP Experience will be advantageous) • People Management essential Competencies required:

Desired Experience & Qualification
Experience and Education
- Matric/NQF Level 4 (Essential)
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications (Advantageous)
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Pharmaceutical/ Distribution & Wholesale/ FMCG/ Supply Chain & Logistic environment (Essential)
- 2 Years’ experience in dealing with stock management or inventory related functions
- 1-2 years supervisory/people management experience (essential)
