The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing and supporting electrical sub-systems and harnesses used within land combat platforms, including turret systems, fire-control systems and vehicle electrical architectures. The role is responsible for ensuring that electrical sub-systems meet technical, quality and performance requirements throughout the product lifecycle, including development, qualification, production and support of legacy systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management
- Design, integrate and support electrical sub-systems for turret control, stabilisation, weapon actuation and electro-mechanical systems.
- Develop and maintain turret power distribution systems, electrical harnesses, wiring looms and interconnect solutions.
- Integrate electrical interfaces between turret drive systems, sensors, actuators, gun control units, turret control units and operator interfaces.
- Support the electrical integration of Fire-Control Systems (FCS), ensuring compatibility between fire-control computers, sensors, actuators and turret control electronics.
- Integrate and verify FCS components, including laser range finders, ballistic computers, thermal imagers, day/night sights and stabilised gun control systems.
- Design and integrate vehicle electrical architectures, ensuring compatibility between turret systems, vehicle power distribution, mission systems and communication networks.
- Develop and implement electrical harnesses and wiring systems linking vehicle power distribution, mission computers, turret systems, fire-control subsystems and sensors.
- Ensure compliance with applicable military electrical standards, including MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810.
- Conduct electrical integration, verification, troubleshooting and qualification testing during subsystem, system, vehicle and field acceptance trials.
- Develop, maintain and control Interface Control Documents (ICDs), electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and system architecture documentation.
- Provide technical support for platform integration activities, ensuring reliable electrical performance, signal integrity and power stability across all integrated vehicle systems .
Strategic and Technology Management
- Continuously refine and optimise Electrical Engineering processes, procedures and documentation, following industry best practice principles, emphasising quality and efficiency, to promote consistent excellence in data output.
- Actively engage and collaborate on various platforms with stakeholders, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and assimilation of best practices into the department's strategic approach.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the Engineering strategy to support the Division's objectives.
- Actively engage and collaborate on various platforms with industry pioneers and thought leaders, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and assimilation of best practices into the department's strategic approach.
- Identify growth opportunities based on previous solutions or interacting with affiliated divisions in the organisation to improve system design solutions.
- Engage in trend analysis to identify future needs and services required by existing customers.
- Implement the Department’s strategy in consultation with subordinates and peers.
QUALIFICATION
- B Eng.degree (or higher) or any equivalent technical qualification
- Registered with the relevant regulatory bodies. ECSA
EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Technical development and engineering expertise in the practical application of electrical systems, including system integration, electrical architecture, power distribution, control electronics, sensors, actuators, communication interfaces, and verification of electrical performance.
- Strong project management and people management skills.
