A leading specialist vehicle armouring and conversion company is looking for an experienced Automotive Workshop Manager to oversee its vehicle conversion workshop team - This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on automotive leader with strong experience in vehicle stripping, fitting, assembly and workshop management. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced automotive professional who understands vehicle construction, can manage multiple vehicle projects, and knows how to keep a workshop team productive while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Role of the Workshop Manager The successful candidate will manage and supervise automotive technicians, fitters, and workshop assistants, ensuring vehicle stripping, fitting, assembly, and conversion work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Remuneration: Market related – Depending on experience. Detail: Duties include Manage and supervise technicians, fitters, and workshop assistants. Allocate daily work and monitor progress across multiple vehicle projects. Coordinate vehicle stripping, fitting, assembly, and conversion activities. Ensure work is completed correctly and within required timeframes. Inspect workmanship and maintain high-quality standards throughout the conversion process. Identify technical problems and provide practical solutions where required. Assist with technical challenges relating to vehicle components, fitment, electrical systems, and assembly. Manage workshop tools, equipment, resources, and general workshop discipline. Coordinate workflow with management, production, and other relevant departments. Train, mentor, and guide junior and less experienced team members. Ensure workshop health and safety procedures and standards are maintained. Monitor vehicle progress and report on delays, outstanding work, and project status. Ensure technical instructions, drawings, job cards, and workshop procedures are followed. Maintain an organised, productive, and professional workshop environment. Requirements: Previous experience in an automotive workshop management or production supervision role. Strong practical automotive background with hands-on workshop experience. Experience in vehicle stripping, fitting, refitting, assembly, or vehicle conversions. Understanding of vehicle construction and the correct removal and refitting of vehicle components. Experience managing technicians, fitters, artisans, and workshop support staff. Good understanding of automotive diagnostics and vehicle electrical systems. Ability to read and work from technical instructions, drawings, and job cards. Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple vehicle projects. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments. Hands-on approach with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail. Ability to maintain workshop discipline, productivity, and safety standards. Formal automotive or management qualification will be advantageous. Substantial practical automotive experience combined with proven leadership ability will be considered. Valid driver's licence.
