Job Title: Workshop Manager Start Date: 2026-08-11 - 2026-09-10 Vacancy Type: Permanent BOK005935 Sectors: Engineering & Technical Location: Gauteng , Boksburg Salary: R 55 000 - R 65 000 Monthly Cost To Company Brief: Workshop Manager Detail: Qualifications Matric / Senior Certificate Qualified with a valid Trade Certificate from a recognised and accredited institution (essential). Computer literacy with experience using fleet maintenance and workshop management systems. Requirements Valid drivers license Fluently in Afrikaans / English Excellent Microsoft skills (Word / Excel etc.) Relevant management or supervisory qualification will be advantageous. Valid Code 14 Driver's Licence will be advantageous. Minimum of 8 years' experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Workshop Supervisor, Foreman, or Workshop Manager role. Proven experience managing workshops within the logistics, transport, or fleet environment. Strong experience in diesel engine diagnostics, gearbox repairs, differential rebuilds, and fleet maintenance planning. Sound knowledge of fleet maintenance practices and preventative maintenance programmes. Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, electrical systems, and electronic diagnostic systems. Knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and transport compliance requirements. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent planning, organising, and problem-solving abilities. Strong budget management and cost-control capabilities. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Duties Fleet Maintenance Management Manage all workshop operations to ensure maximum fleet availability and reliability. Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are implemented and adhered to. Oversee servicing, repairs, inspections, and rebuilds of trucks and trailers. Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted according to manufacturer specifications and company standards. Monitor vehicle breakdown trends and implement corrective action plans. Ensure all vehicles meet roadworthy and legal compliance requirements. Workshop Operations Plan, schedule, and allocate work to technicians and workshop personnel. Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency, and turnaround times. Ensure the workshop is adequately equipped with the necessary tools, equipment, and resources. Conduct quality inspections to ensure workmanship meets required standards. Coordinate roadside breakdown assistance and emergency repair activities. Team Leadership and Development Manage, lead, and develop workshop staff to achieve operational objectives. Conduct performance management, coaching, and skills development initiatives. Ensure sufficient staffing levels and effective shift planning. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Enforce discipline and compliance with company policies and procedures. Financial and Cost Control Develop and manage the workshop maintenance budget. Monitor maintenance expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities. Authorise repair work and parts procurement within approved limits. Control inventory levels and ensure effective management of spare parts. Monitor supplier performance and negotiate with service providers where required. Administration and Reporting Ensure accurate maintenance records, service histories, and job cards are maintained. Generate and submit maintenance reports, KPI reports, and fleet performance reports. Monitor fleet downtime and implement initiatives to improve vehicle utilisation. Ensure accurate record-keeping for audit and compliance purposes. Maintain effective communication with operations, procurement, and senior management. Health, Safety, and Compliance Ensure compliance with all company safety standards and legal requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments. Ensure workshop housekeeping standards are maintained. Investigate incidents, breakdowns, and safety-related matters. Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees. show more...
