Detail: JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all workshops consistently deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective and high-quality maintenance services. The role carries full responsibility for workshop performance, legal compliance, production efficiency, financial management, employee development and customer satisfaction. REQUIREMENTS: National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Government Certificate of Competency. Valid Trade Test Certificate as: Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Millwright (advantage). SAMTRAC will be advantageous. Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards. Experience in heavy mining equipment rebuilds. Minimum of 8 years' workshop management experience. Minimum 5 years' experience in a workshop environment at supervision level. Extensive knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Terex, Toyota, Mercedes. COMPETENCIES: Strong leadership and people management. Technical knowledge of maintenance and repair work. Strong ethical standards and integrity. Communication and interpersonal skills. Decisive decision-making under pressure. Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities. Financial and commercial acumen. Computer literacy. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure efficient workshop production. Ensure all repairs comply with OEM specifications and company engineering standards. Manage preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, breakdown management and shutdown planning. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the Mine Health and Safety Act, where applicable. Maintain ISO 9001 certification. Develop Quality Control Plans. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments. Control engineering expenditure. Manage spares and critical parts while avoiding excess inventory. Monitor nonconformance reports.
