Our client is a well- established developer of utility-scale renewable energy projects is seeking an experienced technical specialist to lead resource assessment, site evaluation, and measurement programmes across a diverse portfolio of wind, solar, and hybrid developments. This role plays a key part in supporting project planning, engineering assessments, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead renewable resource assessment activities and oversee long-term measurement programmes across utility-scale energy projects.
- Develop and implement strategies for field measurement systems in line with recognised industry standards and project objectives.
- Design and optimise site layouts for wind, solar, and hybrid energy facilities to maximise project performance while considering technical, environmental, and operational constraints.
- Oversee the procurement, installation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of resource measurement systems, including met masts, LiDAR, remote sensing technologies, and data logging equipment.
- Manage resource data collection, validation, and quality assurance processes to maintain reliable datasets for engineering and project development.
- Review independent technical studies, energy yield assessments, and specialist reports to support project planning and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, equipment suppliers, and specialist consultants to evaluate technical solutions and support infrastructure development.
- Provide resource analysis, GIS mapping support, and technical cost inputs for project development, feasibility assessments, and planning activities.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within the South African utility-scale renewable energy sector.
- Experience with the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of renewable resource measurement systems, including meteorological masts, LiDAR, remote sensing equipment, and related monitoring technologies.
- Working knowledge of recognised international measurement standards and renewable energy resource assessment methodologies.
- Experience analysing renewable resource data, energy yield assessments, forecasting techniques, and site performance.
- Knowledge of wind, solar, and hybrid facility layout optimisation principles.
- Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and renewable energy assessment or modelling software.
- Experience preparing technical documentation, engineering assessments, feasibility studies, and project evaluation reports.
