- We are seeking a skilled Welder and Maintenance Worker who has experience in working on site within the construction industry to join our team.
- In this hands-on role, the successful candidate will not only focus on welding but also general handyman type duties such as basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry work.
- The candidate's expertise will contribute to a safe and efficient work environment, supporting various projects and routine operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding to fabricate and repair metal structures and components.
- Perform general handyman type tasks such as basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry work.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment and machinery to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot mechanical problems and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of repair and maintenance activities, including materials used and time spent.
- Comply with safety regulations and practices while carrying out welding and other maintenance duties.
- Assist in the installation and assembly of metal products, fixtures, and equipment.
- Use tools and equipment properly and safely to reduce safety hazards.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in welding and maintenance work, with a solid understanding of welding techniques and safety protocols.
- Proficient in using a variety of welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and manage tasks
- Must live within the Johannesburg area as all sites are within 25km's of Parktown.
Preferred Qualification
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Certification in welding from a recognized institution.
- Experience with preventative maintenance schedules and methods.
- Familiarity with basic plumbing
- Familiarity with electrical systems and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with basic carpentry / wood working
- Additional qualifications or training in related fields, such as mechanical engineering or fabrication.
