Minimum Requirements

  • M + 3 Matric plus 3 years of study Qualification with 360 credits or Diploma NQF 6 in the following fields of study: Environmental Science/Management/Health, Nature Conservation, Occupational Health and Safet, or any other closely discipline at NQF level 6 or 7.
  • Youth between 18 – 35 years of age, people with disability are encouraged to apply
  • Required documents: Application letter, Curriculum vitae, copy qualifications
  • South African Citizens residing in the City of Johannesburg.

Primary Function

  • Manage the process of development and implementation of waste management policies, strategies and plans for sustainable waste management services across the City to achieve the City's strategic objectives of integrated waste management. Manage the planning and implementation of sustainable waste projects.

Key Activities

  • Audit Pikitup Buyback and Garden Sites
  • Monitor service delivery and cleanliness standards, and investigate complaints
  • Promote recycling and waste separation.
  • Support community clean-up programmes.
  • Educate informal reclaimers on waste management practices.
  • Assist with illegal dumping.

Leading Competencies

  • ICT literacy, including MS Office Applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Project Management.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental issues and relevant legislation;
  • Understanding environmental policies and project principles and approaches.
