Salary: R12,000 – R15,000 per month

A well-established food manufacturing company in Durban is looking for an experienced, hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to manage and oversee daily warehouse operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient warehouse operations, accurate stock control, staff supervision and compliance with food safety, hygiene and operational standards .

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse operations and warehouse staff

• Manage the receiving, checking, storage and issuing of stock

• Ensure raw materials, packaging and finished goods are correctly stored

• Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records

• Conduct and oversee daily, weekly and monthly stock counts

• Investigate stock discrepancies, shortages, damages and variances

• Ensure correct stock rotation using FIFO/FEFO principles

• Monitor expiry dates and minimise stock losses and wastage

• Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded and controlled

• Coordinate with Production, Procurement and Dispatch departments

• Ensure stock requirements and orders are prepared accurately and on time

• Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, cleanliness and housekeeping

• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, GMP and OHS requirements

• Monitor cold-chain and temperature-controlled stock where applicable

• Ensure damaged, expired or non-conforming stock is correctly identified and isolated

• Supervise staff attendance, productivity, discipline and performance

• Allocate daily duties and ensure operational targets are achieved

• Complete warehouse reports and maintain accurate documentation

• Assist with audits, stock takes and compliance inspections

• Identify operational problems and implement corrective actions

• Create, implement and maintain Warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

• Ensure SOPs are clearly communicated, understood and consistently followed by warehouse staff

• Review existing warehouse processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors, losses and wastage

• Train staff on warehouse procedures, food safety requirements and SOPs

Desired Experience & Qualification

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous Warehouse Supervisor experience is essential

• Previous experience within FMCG / food manufacturing is highly advantageous

• Strong stock and inventory control experience

• Experience creating and implementing SOPs and operational processes

• Good understanding of FIFO/FEFO and stock rotation

• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and warehouse compliance requirements

• Strong leadership and staff supervision skills

• Computer literate with good Excel and administrative skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Good communication and problem-solving skills

• Willingness to work operational hours/overtime when required
