Accurately pick, check and prepare orders in a warehouse storing plastic containers and lids manufactured for yoghurt, margarine and other food products. Ensure the correct products and quantities are selected and ready for dispatch on time.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Read and understand written job orders, picking slips, product codes and quantities in English.
- Locate and pick the correct containers, lids and other products according to each order.
- Accurately count individual items, packs and cartons, checking pack quantities against the order.
- Check product descriptions, sizes, colours and codes to prevent picking errors.
- Inspect stock for damage, contamination or incorrect packaging and report concerns.
- Pack, label and place completed orders in the designated dispatch area.
- Report shortages, stock discrepancies and unclear instructions to the supervisor before completing an order.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, organising and replenishing warehouse stock.
- Participate in stock counts and maintain accurate picking records.
- Keep storage areas, aisles and workstations clean, organised and safe.
- Follow hygiene and handling procedures to protect food-packaging products from contamination.
- Work efficiently with colleagues and communicate politely with staff, drivers and customers where required.
- Follow safety procedures and use appropriate lifting techniques and protective equipment.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
Matric/ Grade 12
- Fluent in reading, writing and understanding English, with the ability to interpret job orders and complete basic records accurately.
- Good counting and basic arithmetic skills, including calculating quantities across packs and cartons.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to distinguish between similar products.
- Ability to perform the physical duties of the role safely, including standing, walking, bending and moving stock.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
- Polite, respectful and able to work well within a team.
- Previous warehouse, picking, packing or stock-handling experience would be advantageous.
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required.
- Fork lift experience required

Assessment : Shortlisted candidates may complete a practical English reading, counting and order picking assessment.
