Reporting to: Operations Management
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to take ownership of finished goods inventory across on-site and off-site warehouse facilities within a leading wine production and distribution environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate stockholding, efficient warehouse operations, effective inventory control, and the seamless execution of local and export customer orders.
This is a key operational leadership role suited to an individual with strong commercial judgement, sound warehouse and inventory management expertise, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management
- Oversee the receipt, storage, handling, picking, loading, and dispatch of finished products across all warehouse facilities.
- Manage finished goods inventory, ensuring accurate stockholding, traceability, security, and stock rotation.
- Coordinate the movement of finished goods between on-site, off-site, and third-party facilities.
- Ensure orders loaded directly from third-party bottling facilities are accurately managed and processed.
- Drive continuous improvement in warehouse processes, space utilisation, stock controls, and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure warehouse operations meet required quality, safety, compliance, and industry standards.
Order Fulfilment & Logistics
- Manage the timely and accurate execution of local and export customer orders.
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Logistics, Planning, Production, and Finance to ensure seamless order fulfilment.
- Ensure all required documentation is accurate and completed within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with logistics providers, freight companies, transporters, and other third-party service providers.
- Ensure export orders comply with relevant customs, documentation, and logistical requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues that may impact customer deliveries.
Planning, Budgeting & Cost Management
- Develop and manage the annual Warehouse Plan and operating budget.
- Monitor warehouse expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.
- Manage resource planning to ensure efficient utilisation of labour, equipment, and warehouse capacity.
- Monitor operational costs and implement measures to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Provide management with relevant operational and financial reporting.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing warehouse team.
- Allocate responsibilities and resources effectively according to operational requirements.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and development to warehouse employees.
- Manage performance and address operational or interpersonal issues appropriately.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, bottling partners, logistics providers, freight companies, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage third-party service providers at both an operational and contractual level.
- Ensure service providers meet agreed quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure warehouse activities support broader business objectives.
Policies, Compliance & Health & Safety
- Develop, implement, and maintain warehouse policies, procedures, and operating standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, health and safety requirements, quality standards, and company policies.
- Maintain appropriate warehouse controls and documentation.
- Ensure equipment and warehouse facilities are operated safely and responsibly.
- Identify operational risks and implement appropriate corrective measures.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Operations Management, Business Administration , or a related field.
- Forklift operator's licence advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years' experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, or a related operational environment.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a management or senior supervisory position .
- Proven experience managing finished goods inventory within a high-volume, multi-site environment .
- Experience within the wine, beverage, FMCG, or similar industry highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience managing local and export order fulfilment.
- Experience working with customs documentation, freight partners, logistics providers, and transporters.
- Proven experience managing budgets and operational costs.
- Experience leading, managing, and developing teams.
- Experience managing third-party service providers, including bottling partners and logistics providers.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of warehouse best practices, inventory control, and stock management systems .
- Strong understanding of finished goods handling, stock rotation, traceability, and security.
- Knowledge of local and export order fulfilment processes.
- Strong budgeting, cost control, and financial acumen.
