Warehouse Manager - Pietermaritzburg Our client in the agriculture sector is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Manager with strong organisational and problem-solving skills to oversee daily warehouse and operational functions. Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Supervise warehouse and operational staff, including allocating duties, monitoring performance, attendance, and managing seasonal/temporary staffing requirements
- Oversee the daily running of the warehouse, including receiving, checking, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching stock
- Maintain accurate stock control and conduct regular stock counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Process customer orders accurately and coordinate weekly deliveries, ensuring orders are dispatched on time
- Operate and oversee forklift activities, including loading, unloading, daily checks, and maintenance requirements
- Coordinate vehicle, workshop, building, equipment, and general maintenance, including liaising with suppliers and service providers
- Manage the purchasing of operational supplies, including obtaining quotations and placing orders
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements and maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised working environment
- Maintain accurate records relating to stock, staff, orders, deliveries, vehicles, and maintenance
- Assist with the opening and closing of the premises and oversee general operational requirements
- Identify operational issues and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating where necessary
Requirements
- Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or operations management
- Proven experience supervising and managing staff
- Strong stock control, order processing, and delivery coordination experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Forklift licence/certificate and practical forklift experience would be advantageous
- Experience with vehicle, equipment, and general maintenance
- Good computer and administrative skills
- Strong organisational and communication skills
