Introduction

A well-established company is looking for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to take responsibility for the effective management of its PE branch warehouse.

The successful candidate will oversee inbound and outbound stock, stock control, customer deliveries, transporters, warehouse staff, stock counts, returns, purchasing and overall warehouse efficiency . Strong experience with Syspro , stock management and warehouse operations is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Manager who is confident managing people, stock and processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the warehouse and the movement of stock between the Cape Town factory, PE warehouse and customers.

The successful candidate will manage the warehouse team, coordinate transport and deliveries, maintain accurate stock records, investigate variances, manage customer returns and queries, and identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes and reduce costs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound stock and stock transfers from Cape Town to the PE warehouse.
  • Control and accurately record all stock movements using Syspro .
  • Manage all outbound stock and customer orders from the warehouse.
  • Manage aged stock returns to the factory.
  • Manage and coordinate in-house transporters .
  • Train, supervise and motivate warehouse staff and pickers.
  • Manage all customer returns and ensure credits are processed timeously.
  • Deal with customer queries, complaints and requests professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure all in-house damages are accurately recorded and damaged stock is decanted accordingly.
  • Ensure empty pallets are returned to the Cape Town factory for re-use.
  • Ensure customer deliveries are completed within the required SLA .
  • Communicate any delivery changes or delays to sales representatives and customers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and develop effective processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with customers, internal branches and transporters to ensure a smooth supply chain flow.
  • Assist sales representatives with stock availability and delivery information .
  • Manage the purchasing of warehouse consumables.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best products at competitive prices.
  • Implement cost-saving measures throughout the warehouse.
  • Conduct and manage monthly stock counts .
  • Investigate stock variances and implement corrective action where required.
  • Manage staff performance and ensure disciplinary action is taken where necessary, in accordance with the company's code of conduct.
  • Ensure high standards of warehouse housekeeping are maintained.
  • Ensure all warehouse machinery and equipment is properly maintained and serviced according to schedule.
  • Conduct monthly OHS warehouse audits and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure all warehouse activities comply with company policies, procedures and safety standards.

Desired Experience & Qualification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Relevant qualification in Warehouse Management, Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
  • Relevant health and safety/OHS training will be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 5+ years' experience in warehouse management , preferably in a busy distribution or supply chain environment.
  • Proven experience managing a warehouse team and operational staff.
  • Strong experience in stock control and inventory management .
  • Syspro experience is essential.
  • Experience managing inbound and outbound stock movements.
  • Experience with stock transfers, stock counts and investigating stock variances.
  • Experience managing customer returns, credits and delivery queries.
  • Experience managing transporters and coordinating deliveries.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse and supply chain processes.
  • Experience with purchasing and negotiating with suppliers will be advantageous.
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of OHS and warehouse safety requirements .
