Warehouse Manager
Location: Somerset West, Western Cape
Position Overview
A leading aerospace manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead all warehousing, inventory control, receiving, dispatch, and material handling operations within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring material availability to production, maintaining inventory accuracy, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring full compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive warehouse management experience within a manufacturing environment, and a proven track record of implementing inventory control, process optimisation, and warehouse best practices. Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Manage all inbound, outbound, and internal warehouse activities.
- Oversee the receiving, storage, issuing, and dispatch of raw materials, consumables, tooling, and finished goods.
- Ensure material availability to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- Develop and maintain efficient warehouse layouts, storage systems, and inventory locations.
- Monitor warehouse performance through KPIs and operational reporting.
Inventory Management
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through cycle counts and stock audits.
- Ensure full traceability of materials in accordance with quality management requirements.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Manage stock replenishment and inventory optimisation strategies.
- Drive improvements in inventory control processes and warehouse procedures.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse personnel.
- Manage workforce planning, scheduling, performance management, and training initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Manage warehouse processes within ERP/MRP systems.
- Analyse warehouse performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain warehouse documentation, procedures, and work instructions.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Maintain housekeeping standards throughout warehouse operations.
- Support quality management systems and audit requirements.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with material handling, storage, and traceability standards.
Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination
- Liaise with Procurement, Production Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate local and international shipments where required.
- Monitor service levels from logistics providers and suppliers.
- Support import and export documentation processes.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years' warehouse management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years' experience leading warehouse teams.
- Strong ERP/MRP systems experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
- Experience with inventory management and stock control systems.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within aerospace, aviation, automotive, engineering, composites, or other high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Experience working within ISO-certified manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to export-focused manufacturing operations.
- Understanding of material traceability and batch-controlled inventory.
