WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Silicone & Technical Products (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our warehouse, receiving and dispatch functions. Job Specification

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that stock is received, stored, controlled, picked and dispatched accurately and efficiently , while maintaining high standards of housekeeping, health and safety, staff discipline and operational control . Offer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Warehouse Operations

Manage the complete day-to-day operation of the warehouse.

Oversee Receiving, Stores, Picking and Dispatch activities.

Ensure all incoming goods are checked against purchase orders, delivery notes and relevant documentation.

Ensure stock is correctly identified, labelled, stored and allocated to the correct warehouse locations.

Ensure customer orders, branch transfers and internal stock movements are picked and dispatched accurately and on time.

Monitor loading and unloading of vehicles and ensure goods are handled safely.

Coordinate warehouse activities with Customer Service, Buying, Production, Finance and Transport/Drivers .

Ensure urgent customer orders and production requirements are prioritised appropriately.

Stock Control

Maintain strict control over warehouse inventory.

Ensure all stock movements are supported by the correct documentation and system transactions.

Manage and oversee daily, weekly and monthly stock counts .

Investigate stock variances and ensure discrepancies are reported and corrective action taken.

Ensure stock rotation principles, including FIFO/FEFO where applicable , are followed.

Monitor damaged, expired, quarantined and returned stock.

Ensure returns are processed promptly and returned to the correct stock location.

Maintain accurate warehouse bin locations and stock identification.

Assist with month-end and year-end stocktakes.

Receiving

Ensure deliveries are received accurately and promptly.

Check quantities, product identification, packaging condition and relevant paperwork.

Identify and report short deliveries, damaged goods or incorrect stock.

Ensure received stock is booked into the system correctly and placed into the appropriate storage location.

Ensure raw materials and finished goods requiring controlled handling are stored according to company procedures.

Dispatch

Ensure customer orders and interbranch transfers are picked accurately.

Verify quantities and products before dispatch.

Ensure dispatch documentation is complete and correct.

Oversee safe loading practices.

Ensure orders are dispatched according to delivery schedules and customer requirements.

Investigate picking, loading and dispatch errors and implement corrective action.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

The Warehouse Manager will directly manage and supervise warehouse-related staff, including:

Warehouse Assistants

Storeman / Stores Personnel

Receiving and Dispatch Staff

Cleaners

Other warehouse personnel as allocated

Responsibilities will include

Allocate daily duties and workload.

Conduct morning briefings and communicate operational priorities.

Monitor employee productivity and performance.

Ensure staff comply with company procedures and work instructions.

Identify training and competency requirements.

Conduct on-the-job training where required.

Maintain training records and provide feedback on employee competency.

Manage attendance, punctuality and timekeeping.

Address misconduct, poor performance and non-compliance promptly in conjunction with HR.

Ensure employees understand their individual responsibilities and accountability.

Promote teamwork and cooperation between warehouse, production and administrative departments.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The successful candidate must hold a recognised Health & Safety Representative qualification and will be expected to play an active role in maintaining workplace safety.

Responsibilities will include

Act as a designated Health & Safety Representative where appointed.

Conduct regular warehouse safety inspections.

Identify hazards and unsafe working practices.

Ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Participate in workplace risk assessments.

Ensure staff wear required PPE.

Ensure safe operation of forklifts and material-handling equipment.

Ensure only authorised and appropriately licensed employees operate forklifts.

Monitor safe stacking, racking and storage practices.

Ensure emergency exits, fire equipment and access routes remain unobstructed.

Report and assist with investigations of incidents, near misses and unsafe acts.

Participate in Health & Safety meetings and inspections.

Conduct or assist with safety toolbox talks.

Ensure compliance with applicable company H&S procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act .

HOUSEKEEPING & HYGIENE

Because our operation includes products used within industrial and food-processing environments, strong housekeeping and hygiene standards are essential.

The Warehouse Manager will

Ensure warehouse areas are kept clean, organised and free from unnecessary obstruction.

Manage and supervise the cleaning team.

Ensure cleaning schedules are completed.

Monitor cleaning equipment and chemical storage.

Ensure spillages are attended to immediately.

Maintain clean receiving, storage and dispatch areas.

Ensure waste is correctly segregated and removed.

Support compliance with the company's applicable quality, food-safety and H&S systems.

Silicone & Technical Products operates within certified management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000 , making procedural compliance and good warehouse practices particularly important.
