The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective management of all warehouse operations (inbound, outbound and stock control), ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, handling, and control of inventory. The role focuses on maintaining inventory accuracy, warehouse productivity, safety compliance, and continuous improvement of warehouse processes to meet customer delight satisfaction.
Job Description
Manage and oversee all day-to-day warehouse activities – strong operational focus.
Ensure efficient receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch processes.
Maintain optimal warehouse layout and space utilization.
Develop, implement, and enforce warehouse standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Monitor and improve warehouse productivity and operational efficiency.
Ensure all warehouse equipment is properly maintained and utilized.
Ensure housekeeping and 5 S stands are adhered to and maintained.
Manage inbound and outbound stock movement based on agreed standards, including aged stock, stock destructions and movement to 3rd party, e.g. Sequence.
Conduct floor walkthroughs to address and resolve infrastructure damages.
Identify errors, investigate root causes, implement corrective actions and sustain improvement to prevent from happening again
Maintain accurate records, report and documentation to track performance
Lead, supervise and support warehouse staff to ensure operational runs smoothly
Maintain training records and ensure all team members are competent in their roles
Check NCA's raised by sequence and customers and create action plans to resolve all NCA's
Conduct daily spot check on all staff to ensure staff adherence to PPE requirements
Strict control over overtime and management of overtime to reduce unnecessary overtime costs
Inventory Management
Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through disciplined stock control processes.
Manage regular cycle counts and annual stock takes.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Ensure accurate inventory transactions within the WMS/ERP system.
Monitor stock movements and implement controls to minimize losses and damages.
Manage slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory.
Team Leadership
Lead, manage, and develop warehouse personnel – strong operational focus.
Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Identify training and development needs within the warehouse team.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Health, Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes and efficiencies.
Drive cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
Implement best practices in warehouse management and inventory control.
Support operational excellence and continuous improvement programs.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Warehousing, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years' experience in warehouse management.
Experience managing warehouse teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems.
Strong knowledge of health and food safety protocols
Strong knowledge of cold storage processes
Preferred
Lean or Continuous Improvement certification.
Experience in FMCG, Manufacturing, Retail, or Distribution environments.
Package & Remuneration
50000 - 65000 Monthly (ZAR)
