Our client, a well-established FMCG business, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to take responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operation of their warehouse facility.
This is a key operational role for a strong leader who understands stock control, warehouse processes, logistics, people management and FMCG requirements , and who is passionate about maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency and customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Warehouse Operations: Manage the daily operation of the warehouse, including the opening and closing of the facility and ensuring smooth, efficient workflow.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, oversee stock control, minimise discrepancies and ensure goods are stored and organised correctly.
- Staff Management: Lead, train and supervise warehouse staff, including allocating responsibilities, managing schedules and monitoring performance.
- Health & Safety: Implement and enforce warehouse safety procedures and ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and operational standards.
- Space Optimisation: Manage the warehouse layout to maximise storage capacity and improve the efficiency of picking, packing and dispatch processes.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries, including receiving and inspecting goods and managing transportation and delivery schedules.
- Equipment Management: Ensure forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment are properly maintained, serviced and in safe working condition.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve productivity, reduce operational costs and increase overall warehouse efficiency.
- Interdepartmental Communication: Liaise closely with Procurement, Sales, Customer Service and other departments to ensure effective coordination and timely order fulfilment.
- Budget & Cost Control: Monitor warehouse-related expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service, quality or efficiency.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of accuracy in picking and packing, while monitoring stock for damage, defects or quality issues.
- Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate records of stock movements, transactions and warehouse activities and provide regular operational reports to management.
- Customer Service: Resolve warehouse-related queries, issues and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
We are looking for a hands-on, organised and results-driven Warehouse Manager who can lead a team while remaining actively involved in the daily operation of the warehouse.
Desired Experience & Qualification
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Proven experience in warehouse management, preferably within the FMCG environment
- Strong knowledge of stock control and inventory management
- Experience managing and motivating warehouse teams
- Good understanding of inbound, outbound and distribution processes
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- A firm understanding of health and safety requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive approach to improving processes and reducing costs
- Computer literacy and good administrative/reporting skills
- A hands-on approach and the ability to lead by example
Package & Remuneration
Good market related salary depending on experience and suitability for the role.
