Our reputable Foodservice Equipment client based in Johannesburg is currently seeking an experienced Warehouse Inbound Manager to join their team.
Purpose of the Role
The successful candidate will take full ownership of the company’s inbound warehouse operations and manage the teams responsible for Receiving, Credit & Returns, Administration and Housekeeping.
The role requires a hands-on warehouse leader who understands the importance of stock accuracy, process discipline, productivity, safety and employee accountability.

Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Receiving Operations
- Manage the daily operation of Receiving and the supporting warehouse functions.
- Oversee the receiving and off-loading of supplier trucks and containers.
- Ensure stock is received accurately and checked against the relevant supplier documentation.
- Confirm that all received stock is in good order and condition.
- Ensure stock is correctly barcoded, labelled and processed before being released into the warehouse.
- Ensure receiving procedures and warehouse SOPs are consistently followed.
- Manage stock movements between departments.
- Manage stock transfers and production/build-up orders.
- Resolve daily inbound and receiving-related operational problems.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Drive high levels of inventory accuracy and stock control.
- Manage and participate in regular cycle counts and stock takes.
- Monitor and investigate stock variances, shortages and missed picks.
- Identify the root causes of inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide feedback on stock variances and corrective actions to management.
- Maintain accurate warehouse records and stock-control documentation.
- Ensure pick faces and bin locations are accurate and appropriately replenished.
Credit & Returns and Warehouse Administration
- Manage the Credit & Returns process.
- Ensure returned goods are correctly identified, documented, and processed.
- Ensure the accurate filing and control of PODs, credit notes, route sheets, and other warehouse documentation.
- Follow up on outstanding warehouse documentation.
- Ensure documentation-related problems are resolved timeously.
- Maintain accurate and organised warehouse administration and records.
Housekeeping & Warehouse Standards
- Maintain high standards of warehouse cleanliness, organisation and housekeeping.
- Ensure stock is safely and correctly stored.
- Monitor stacking, storage and warehouse-safety requirements.
- Ensure bin locations and pick faces are correctly maintained.
- Manage forklift drivers.
- Ensure forklifts and other warehouse equipment are safely and correctly utilised.
- Ensure warehouse equipment is appropriately maintained.
People Management
- Lead, coach, train and develop the warehouse teams.
- Set clear KPIs, productivity targets and individual performance objectives.
- Monitor team and individual performance.
- Implement performance-improvement plans where required.
- Manage employee recruitment, training, discipline and performance management.
- Conduct regular warehouse team meetings.
- Maintain strong communication across the department.
- Hold employees accountable for productivity, accuracy, safety and operational standards.
Safety, Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with company policies and warehouse SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Promote a strong warehouse safety culture.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training.
- Manage labour utilisation.
- Control operating costs, including overtime.
- Identify warehouse inefficiencies and operational bottlenecks.
- Implement improvements to increase productivity, stock accuracy and service levels.
- Take ownership of daily operational problems.
- Ensure warehouse problems are resolved quickly and effectively.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification is required.
E xperience
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in warehouse operations.
- At least 2–3 years’ experience in a warehouse supervisory or management position.
- Strong practical experience in receiving, inventory control and warehouse management.
- Experience managing a team in a busy warehouse environment.
- Proven experience managing supplier-truck and container receiving and off-loading.
- Proven experience with stock takes and cycle counting.
- Experience investigating stock variances, shortages and inventory discrepancies.
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes, SOPs and stock movements.
- Experience managing warehouse productivity and performance through measurable KPIs.
- Experience managing employee performance, discipline, training and development.
- Good knowledge of warehouse safety and OHSA requirements.
- Experience managing labour utilisation, overtime and operational costs.
- Experience using an ERP or Warehouse Management System.
- Strong computer, reporting and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Continuous-improvement experience will be highly advantageous.
