Our client in Kempton Park is looking for a motivated, reliable and hands-on Workshop Assistant with good energy to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Storeman and Operations Manager to ensure that stock, materials, equipment and components are correctly picked, pulled, packed and prepared. This is a practical role suited to an individual who enjoys working with their hands, have good energy, is physically capable, pays attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining an organised and efficient warehouse environment. Must be keen to jump in and help, and has an aptitude to learn their stock and products.
Duties & Responsibilities
Stock support responsibilities
- Assist the Storeman with the picking and pulling of stock for projects and customer orders.
- Locate, collect and move stock and equipment from designated storage areas.
- Check picked items against picking lists.
- Assist with packing and preparing materials for dispatch and delivery.
- Assist with loading and offloading deliveries and collections.
- Ensure stock is handled, stored and packed correctly to prevent damage.
- Assist with stock counts and periodic stocktaking.
- Assist with maintaining an organised and clean stores and workshop area.
Workshop support
- Assist workshop staff with the preparation of materials and components required for manufacturing and assembly.
- Prepare pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, vessels and other equipment for projects as required.
- Assist with moving and positioning equipment within the workshop.
- Keep work areas clean, tidy and free from unnecessary materials and waste.
- Assist with general workshop duties as instructed by the Workshop Manager or Storeman.
- Ensure tools and equipment are returned to their designated locations after use.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Skills and Requirements
- Grade 12
- 0 - 2 years. Graduates welcome to apply.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
- Able to follow instructions accurately.
- Takes initiative and is willing to assist wherever required.
- Honest and trustworthy when handling company stock and equipment.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Package & Remuneration
R10 000.00 - R15 000.000 depending on experience.
