The Warehouse Assistant will provide support in the day -to-day operations of the warehouse , ensuring that stock is received, stored , picked, packed and dispatched accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining accurate stock levels, keeping the warehouse clean and organised, and ensuring that all warehouse procedures and safety standards are followed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
Receive, check and offload incoming stock and deliveries.
Verify quantities and product descriptions against delivery documentation.
Assist with loading and unloading of goods.
Pick and pack customer and internal orders accurately.
Label, sort and store stock in the correct locations.
Prepare goods for dispatch and collection.
Ensure stock is handled carefully to prevent damage.
Maintain a clean, neat and organised warehouse.
Assist with general warehouse duties as required.
Stock Control
Assist with regular stock counts and cycle counts.
Check stock quantities and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Ensure all stock movements are recorded correctly.
Assist with identifying damaged, expired or incorrect stock.
Follow correct stock rotation procedures, including FIFO where applicable.
Ensure products are stored securely and correctly.
Dispatch & Deliveries
Prepare orders for dispatch according to picking slips or system instructions.
Check orders for accuracy before dispatch.
Assist with loading delivery vehicles.
Ensure dispatch documentation is completed correctly.
Assist drivers and couriers with collections where required.
Health & Safety
Follow all company health and safety procedures.
Wear the required PPE at all times.
Report unsafe working conditions, damaged equipment or incidents immediately.
Ensure warehouse aisles and work areas remain clean and free of hazards.
Handle stock and equipment safely and responsibly.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12 / Matric.
Previous warehouse, stores or logistics experience will be advantageous.
1–2 years' warehouse experience preferred.
Basic computer literacy.
Ability to read and understand picking slips, invoices and delivery notes.
Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling duties.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
Good attention to detail.
