Start free — we apply for you →- A vacancy exists for a Ward Clerk in the Surgical Unit based at Life Groenkloof Hospital reporting to Unit Manager. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective: interdepartmental liaising, communication and administrative support to the nursing team.
Critical Outputs
- Conducting basic secretarial duties
- Capturing Data - Labour hours, over times, Night Duties etc.
- Stock controlling and billing.
- Set up and maintenance of preferred stock levels, and daily ordering to ensure a quality pharmaceutical supply service.
- Order generation, placement and follow up.
- Responsible for data capturing, patient filing, and all general clerical and administrative work given by the Unit manager and Senior Registered nurses.
- Management of stock transfers and management of SAP reports.
- Participate in the implementation and management of formularies and RSRT initiatives.
- Participate in cycle counts, stock takes and dead stock management.
- Item master maintenance.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with all other departments within the hospital.
- Effectively respond to queries and handle it accordingly.
- Correct and accurate billing of Patient accounts and Cost Sheets.
- High professional standards and a commitment to your own development.
Requirements
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
- General administrative experience – at least 1 year
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The candidate must be able to work independently, manage time effectively and be a team player, energetic, quality focused and flexible.
- Ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office excel, word is essential.
- Co-ordinating of bookings
- A working knowledge of the SAP system and sound knowledge/Experience of stock control in a hospital environment will be an advantage
- Ability to work in a fast & stressful environment, attention to detail and results orientated.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills are important, as are good relationships with doctors, staff and suppliers
