Start free — we apply for you →- A vacancy exists for a Ward Clerk position in the Renal Unit reporting to Unit Manager. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective: interdepartmental liaising, communication and administrative support to the nursing team.
Critical Outputs
- Conducting clerical/secretarial duties as delegated by the Unit Manager
- Coordinate with bed bookings into the department
- Assisting with management of patients lists/bookings
- Coordinate and assist with staff planning
- Coordinate and assist with administrative duties including answering of the telephones
- Management of surgical and ethical stock in the unit. This includes ordering of stock, managing stock levels, stocktaking, orientation of employees to stock management processes.
- Management of timeous billing processes including billing of stock
- Flexibility regarding ward deployment as per the unit's operational requirements
- Ensure high-quality client service
- To ensure the speedy and effective execution of non-nursing activities
- Attend meetings and in-service training as scheduled
- Obtaining authorization for renal sessions and liaison with relevant funders and parties.
- Accurate record keeping of renal sessions and reports sent to relevant departments.
- Opening of new renal files of patients requiring dialysis sessions and Scanco/ archiving of documents.
- Knowledge of emergency plans and actions
- Elimination of Medico legal risks through the correct identification and filing of patient's documentation
- Maintenance of a positive appearance and behavior, within and outside hospital relation
- Friendly and helpful client service

Requirements
- Grade 12
- Experience / training in the field of Data capturing and stock control will be beneficial
- Strong computer literacy and competence in full Microsoft office suite is essential
- Experience in dealing with customers
- Commitment towards continuous improvement

- Professional with integrity
- Confidentiality and discretion during contact with customers and colleagues.
- Knowledge of medical terminology will be advantageous
- Knowledge of hospital procedures will be advantageous
- Secretarial experience/qualification is advantageous
