Core Criteria
• Grade 12 certificate • Ideally 3 years' experience waiting tables in a comparable restaurant • Working knowledge of wine and the surrounding wine regions • Confident using POS and till systems • At ease serving high-end, discerning guests • Comfortable with everyday maths and handling bills • Clear, friendly communicator and attentive listener • Service-minded, patient and observant at the table • Neat, professional appearance • Dependable, adaptable and takes ownership of the job • Upbeat, energetic personality Core Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests to their tables and present menus and wine lists
- Explain dishes confidently, including key ingredients and how they are prepared
- Lay tables to standard with linen, cutlery and glassware
- Capture food and drink orders accurately on the POS and serve them promptly
- Pass orders to the kitchen and bar and keep service flowing
- Clear used plates, cutlery and glassware throughout the meal
- Recommend desserts and coffee
- Prepare and present bills accurately
- Keep the dining area, fixtures and fittings spotless and hygienic
- Arrive in a clean, well-kept uniform every shift
