Depending on qualifications and institutional needs, academic support may be allocated within Theology and/or Social Work.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide professional assessment, short-term counselling, psychoeducation, and appropriate referrals.Support students facing adjustment challenges, stress, loss, relationship difficulties, and academic pressures.Maintain confidential records and provide anonymised trend reports.Offer technical and administrative support to designated academic programmes.Assist with programme administration, timetabling, student communication, meeting coordination, and quality assurance processes.Support teaching and learning activities, practicum/fieldwork administration, or training logistics where applicable.Adhere strictly to professional ethics, confidentiality, and conflict-of-interest requirements.Minimum RequirementsA recognised qualification and current professional registration enabling the provision of counselling services.Registration with the SACSSP, HPCSA, or another relevant South African statutory professional body.Relevant NQF Level 7 or 8 qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related psychosocial field.Academic background in Social Work, Theology, Practical Theology, Pastoral Studies/Pastoral Care, or a related discipline.At least three years’ relevant professional experience, supported by strong administrative, digital, communication, and coordination skills.Added AdvantagesExperience in higher education and student support services.Experience in short-term counselling, referrals, programme support, and multidisciplinary collaboration.Honours, Master’s, or other postgraduate qualification.Application ProcessSubmit a motivation letter, comprehensive CV, certified qualifications, proof of current professional registration, and contact details of three referees to hr@hugenote.ac.za by 30 September 2026.
