VNA Operator

Introduction

The VNA Truck Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of a Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) forklift truck to store, retrieve, replenish, and move stock within the warehouse. The role ensures optimal utilization of warehouse space while maintaining high standards of safety, inventory accuracy, and operational productivity, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of stock while maintaining high standards of accuracy, productivity, and compliance within the warehouse environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate a VNA truck within designated warehouse areas.

• Pick, put away, replenish, and retrieve pallets from high-level racking systems.

• Transport stock to and from receiving, storage, and dispatch areas.

• Accurately scan and record inventory movements using RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

• Verify stock quantities, locations, and product codes.

• Assist with stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory audits.

• Ensure orders are picked accurately and within required productivity targets.

Equipment and Maintenance

• Conduct daily pre-use inspections of the VNA truck.

• Complete vehicle inspection checklists and report defects immediately.

• Operate equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company procedures.

• Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper charging/refueling procedures are followed.

Safety and Compliance

• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and company policies.

• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.

• Observe speed limits and safe operating practices within the warehouse.

• Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.

• Ensure safe handling and storage of all products.

Housekeeping

• Maintain clean and organized work areas.

• Keep aisles, staging areas, and emergency exits clear and accessible.

• Support 5S and warehouse housekeeping initiatives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating a VNA truck in a warehouse or distribution centre.

• Experience working with high-bay racking systems.

• Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems is advantageous.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Valid VNA Forklift Operator Licence/Certification.

• Valid medical certificate of fitness (where applicable).

Reach Truck or Counterbalance Forklift Licence will be advantageous
