Job Description

  • Tekkie Town, a leading division of Pepkor Trading Pty Ltd, is on the hunt for a driven, detail-oriented and creative Visual Merchandise Co-ordinator to join our team in Cape Town. The VM Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, development and execution of visual merchandising strategies and directives across retail store formats for the brand. This role ensures all visual displays, product presentations and in-store environments are aesthetically appealing, on-brand, commercially effective and consistent with the company's brand image and sales objectives.

Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: Matric National Senior Certificate is essential.
  • A Diploma or Certificate in Visual Merchandising, Retail Management, Fashion Design, Interior Design or a related creative/retail field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in visual merchandising, retail operations or a similar role within a retail environment.
  • Practical experience assisting with in-store display setups and understanding of retail floor layouts and fixture types.
  • Strong understanding of visual merchandising principles, techniques, brand guidelines and product presentation strategies.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide clear instructions and feedback.
  • Proficiency in Google platforms.
  • Familiarity with design software e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop for basic edits or asset reviews is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with store teams, marketing, operations and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation and dissemination of VM instructions, campaign directives, planograms, fixture layouts and promotional bulletins to retail store teams.
  • Coordinating the logistics, administration, inventory management and timely distribution of VM assets and promotional props in collaboration with production, logistics and store support teams.
  • Providing direct support to retail stores regarding VM implementation, responding to queries and offering virtual or occasional on-site guidance.
  • Conducting compliance checks via photos or visits to ensure directives are executed correctly and maintained to high brand standards.
  • Staying informed about visual merchandising trends, competitor displays and retail aesthetics to contribute insights for future VM strategies.
  • Facilitating effective communication and alignment between the VM department, internal teams Marketing, Buying, Operations, Store Managers and external vendors.
