We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy and hands-on Property Maintenance & General Worker to assist with the cleaning, upkeep and maintenance of a small portfolio of commercial and residential properties in Salt River and the Northern Suburbs.
We need a practical all-rounder who enjoys working with their hands, can tackle a variety of maintenance jobs and is able to work independently.
Duties include
General building and property maintenance
Cleaning and upkeep of buildings and outside areas
Basic plumbing repairs, including taps, toilets and minor blockages
Painting, preparation and touch-ups
Minor plastering, patching and building repairs
Basic carpentry and handyman work
Repairing doors, locks, handles, cupboards, shelving and fittings
Clearing gutters and drains
Minor garden/outside-area maintenance
Using hand and power tools
Moving, loading and clearing items when required
Collecting maintenance materials and supplies
Assisting contractors
Identifying maintenance problems and reporting work requiring a qualified tradesperson
General preventative maintenance
We are looking for someone who
Has previous handyman, property or building maintenance experience
Has practical knowledge of basic plumbing, painting and general repairs
Is comfortable using hand and power tools
Is willing to perform both maintenance and general cleaning duties
Is reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy
Can work independently and use initiative
Takes pride in completing work neatly and properly
Has good practical problem-solving skills
Has contactable employment references
A valid driver's licence is strongly preferred. Own reliable transport would be advantageous.
Formal trade qualifications are not essential. Practical ability, experience, common sense and reliability are more important.
Applicants must have a clean criminal record and be willing to undergo a criminal record/background check.
Position Details
Location: Salt River & Northern Suburbs, Cape Town
Hours: 40-hour working week
Rate: R70–R85 per hour, depending on experience and ability
Approx. monthly earnings: R12,000–R15,000 before overtime
Start: As soon as reasonably possible
