  • A skilled and self-assured Utility II Operator with a strong mechanical or electrical trade background required for Port Elizabeth.
  • This role is responsible for ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimising breakdowns, maintaining product quality and supporting continuous production.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate NQF 4.
  • Electrical or Mechanical trade test.
  • Up to 3 years' operator experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer literacy MS Office, SAP, ERP systems and related manufacturing software.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Understanding of maintenance practices, methodologies and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and workplace safety principles.
  • Ability to operate machinery in accordance with supplier operating manuals.
  • Basic fault-finding and preventative maintenance knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Negative and Positive Pasting Lines, including the Expander, Tab Blanker, Hopper, Divider and Stacker in accordance with supplier operating manuals.
  • Ensure production equipment consistently produces quality products at the required production rates.
  • Monitor and maintain extraction and cooling systems to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Carry out first-line repairs and maintenance to minimise equipment failures and production downtime.
  • Complete job cards before maintenance work commences.
  • Accurately complete production logs, attribute charts and SPC documentation in accordance with work instructions.
  • Operate within company procedures, policies and manufacturing standards.
  • Identify and report equipment faults, risks and operational concerns to the Section Manager.
  • Promote safe working practices and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Support cost control initiatives by reducing waste and ensuring the effective use of materials and resources.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Identify and resolve operational problems while maintaining AutoX's quality and service standards.
