Detail: The Africa Treasury & Risk team, led by the Head of Africa Treasury & Risk, is responsible for banking relationships, foreign exchange, funding, cash flow and payment operations across a group of African entities operating in multiple jurisdictions and currencies, using a range of banking and payment platforms. The Treasury Officer supports the day-to-day treasury operations of this multi-entity, multi-currency environment, interacting directly with banks on operational matters, working closely with the reginal team, other reginal offices and Group Treasury & Risk teams. Also provides ongoing support to the Risk function, including counterparty risk, credit risk, and insurance management. Key Responsibilities (Not Limited To) Treasury Operations Process, control, and prepare for approval incoming payment requests and intercompany loan requests across Group entities and banking platforms. Monitor and process day-to-day cash positions, including overdraft limits, intercompany loans, liquidity, and credit line utilisation, in liaison with treasury colleagues, other regional treasury offices, and banks. Process foreign exchange payments and prepare South African Reserve Bank (SARB) exchange control applications and reporting. Support trade teams on documentary bank products, including letters of credit and guarantees, and interact directly with banks on operational requirements. Prepare treasury reporting outputs, including bank and intercompany reconciliations, and support the cash budgeting process for commodity operations. Support banking platform administration across the entity group, including user access administration, mandate changes, and verification of supplier banking details. Support banking migration and onboarding projects as entities and platforms evolve. Risk & Compliance Obtain and track credit lines from the credit insurer and relay information to the commercial department. Assist the Head of Africa Treasury & Risk with credit risk analysis and liaise with Group Risk accordingly. Support accounts receivable follow-up and reporting. Prepare ad hoc risk and treasury analysis reports as required. Support internal and external audit requirements relating to treasury. Help ensure treasury operations comply with bank facility covenants and Group treasury policies and procedures. Process Improvement & Ad Hoc Support Identify and help implement process efficiencies, including treasury management system improvements. Support ad hoc projects as they arise, including new product operational support and insurance reviews. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or an equivalent finance-related qualification. Experience 1 to 3 years' experience in a related finance or treasury role. Understanding of financial derivatives, hedging, and liquidity concepts. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with and interrogate large datasets. Exposure to governance, controls, policy, and procedure documentation. Experience operating across multiple entities, currencies, or banking platforms is an advantage. Skills and Attributes Intellect, judgement, and the ability to think conceptually, strategically, and practically. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, including senior management and trading heads. Personable, with the ability to build effective working relationships, both face to face and virtually. Able to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Strong attention to detail. Self-reliant and self-motivated. High degree of integrity. Proactive and enthusiastic, with the ability to support others and help deliver results as part of a small, high-coverage team.
