- We are seeking a Treasury Manager who will report directly to the Group Treasurer and serve as a senior execution partner across Lesaka's funding, liquidity and financial risk agenda.
- The role will take day-to-day ownership of debt facilities and covenant monitoring, strengthen cash and liquidity management across the Group, and support the management of interest rate and foreign exchange exposures.
- The successful candidate must combine technical treasury depth with disciplined execution, sound commercial judgement and the ability to work across a complex group structure.
Key Responsibilities
Debt funding and working capital management
- Manage the Group's debt portfolio, including revolving credit, working capital, overdraft, guarantee and other committed or uncommitted facilities.
- Maintain a complete view of facility limits, utilisation, pricing, maturity profiles, security, guarantees and key contractual obligations.
- Prepare funding requirements and utilisation requests, coordinate drawdowns and repayments, and confirm that funding is available when required.
- Own the covenant monitoring process, including calculation review, sensitivity testing, compliance certificates and the evidence supporting lender submissions.
- Track undertakings, reporting deadlines, and other obligations under funding agreements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with lenders, facility agents, debt advisers, legal advisers.
- Partner with business units and finance teams to understand working capital drivers and identify practical opportunities to release cash and reduce funding costs.
Liquidity and cash management
- Maintain reliable daily and forward-looking visibility of cash, available facilities and liquidity headroom across the Group.
- Manage and improve cash pooling, sweeping, offset, netting and intercompany funding arrangements within legal, tax, regulatory and facility constraints.
- Optimise the allocation of surplus cash and short-term borrowings to reduce interest expense and improve returns within approved risk limits.
- Oversee bank account structures, signatories, mandates, bank fees and cash management services in partnership with finance, legal and operational teams.
- Provide timely liquidity reporting to the Group Treasurer and senior management, highlighting forecast pressure points, concentration risk and available mitigants.
Interest rate and foreign exchange risk management
- Identify, quantify and report the Group's interest rate and foreign exchange exposures, including exposures arising from debt, cash flows, acquisitions and cross-border operations.
- Support the design and execution of approved hedging strategies using appropriate instruments, including swaps, forwards and options where relevant.
- Monitor hedge positions, counterparty limits, valuations, settlements and documentation, including ISDA and related confirmations where applicable.
- Work with Finance and Accounting to support accurate accounting, valuation, disclosure and control over treasury instruments.
Cash flow forecasting and treasury technology
- Own and continuously improve short-term and medium-term cash flow forecasting, including variance analysis, forecast accuracy and clear accountability for business inputs.
- Translate business plans, working capital trends, debt service and transaction activity into an integrated liquidity and funding forecast.
- Support the selection, implementation and effective use of a treasury management system and related bank connectivity, reporting and workflow tools.
- Improve the quality, timeliness and automation of treasury data, dashboards and management reporting.
Governance, controls and stakeholder support
- Operate within approved treasury policies, delegated authorities, facility agreements and regulatory requirements, and recommend updates where controls or operating needs change.
- Support internal and external audit requests and ensure that findings are resolved within agreed timelines.
- Provide treasury input into acquisitions, disposals, new products and other strategic initiatives, with a focus on funding, liquidity and financial risk implications.
- Act as a trusted treasury partner to Group Finance, business unit finance teams, Legal, Tax, Risk, Operations and executive stakeholders.
Experience
- At least 7 years of relevant treasury experience, with substantial exposure to a complex corporate group, financial institution or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong practical experience in corporate debt funding, facility management, covenant monitoring and lender engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in liquidity management, cash pooling, cash concentration or offset arrangements and working capital optimisation.
- Practical knowledge of interest rate and foreign exchange risk management, including hedging instruments and transaction execution.
- Experience building or operating cash flow forecasts and producing decision-useful treasury reporting.
- Hands-on experience with a treasury management system, online banking platforms and ERP or financial reporting systems.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability. Experience with data visualisation or reporting automation will be advantageous.
Technical knowledge
- Corporate funding instruments, debt documentation, guarantees, security structures and covenant frameworks.
- Liquidity risk management, cash pooling, intercompany funding and short-term investment principles.
- Interest rate and foreign exchange markets, derivatives, confirmations, settlements and counterparty risk.
- Treasury accounting concepts, financial controls and relevant regulatory considerations, including exchange control where applicable.
- Treasury systems, bank connectivity, cash forecasting methods and management information design.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification or professional designation such as CASA, ACT, CFA or FRM will be advantageous.
Key working relationships
- Internal stakeholders include the Group Treasurer, CFO and executive management, Group Finance, business unit finance teams, Legal, Tax, Risk, Operations, Internal Audit and M&A or strategic projects.
- External stakeholders include relationship banks, lenders, facility agents, debt advisers, legal advisers, auditors, treasury technology providers and other financial service providers.
Role context
- This is a hands-on senior treasury role. It requires a person who can independently manage detailed funding and liquidity processes while also providing concise analysis and recommendations to the Group Treasurer.
- The role will suit someone who is comfortable working across multiple legal entities, responding to time-sensitive requirements and helping to strengthen a centralised Group Treasury capability.
