- A well-established logistics company is seeking an experienced Transport Controller to join its growing transport operations team based in Durban.
- This is an excellent opportunity for a transport professional with experience in long-distance road freight and third-party transporter coordination who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule third-party transporters to ensure efficient transport operations.
- Plan and allocate loads to optimise fleet capacity and meet daily operational requirements.
- Monitor and track vehicle movements to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Liaise with transporters, warehouses, loading and offloading sites to ensure seamless operations.
- Resolve transport-related issues, delays and operational challenges.
- Ensure transport documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
- Maintain high levels of communication with internal stakeholders and external transport providers.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, safety requirements and company procedures.
- Update and maintain transport management systems and operational records.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in transport operations within the logistics or road freight industry.
- Experience coordinating third-party transporters and long-distance road freight operations.
- Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
- Good administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using a Transport Management System TMS. Exposure to systems such as OPUS or Datatim will be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic operational environment.
- A tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management will be advantageous.
Working Hours
- This role operates on a shift basis. Candidates must be willing to work shifts, scheduled weekends and standby/after-hours when operationally required.
