Trainee Finance Manager | Newly Qualified CA(SA) | 2 Years Post Articles | Durban R35 000 - R45 000 per month

Introduction

Our client, a well-established company in the car hire industry , is seeking a motivated and ambitious newly qualified CA(SA) with approximately two years' post-articles experience to join their team as a Trainee Finance Manager. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will gain exposure to the full finance function while contributing to financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and business performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and executive reports.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis.

• Monitor cash flow and working capital to support business operations.

• Oversee reconciliations, general ledger integrity, debtors, and creditors.

• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, VAT, payroll, and statutory requirements.

• Maintain strong financial controls, policies, and internal procedures.

• Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability.

• Assist with annual budgeting and long-term financial planning.

• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiencies.

• Partner with operational teams to support informed commercial decision-making.

• Monitor financial KPIs and prepare regular management reports.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and governance standards.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA) (essential).

Experience

• Approximately 2 years' post-articles experience .

• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and statutory compliance.

• Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.

• Exposure to audits, IFRS, and financial controls.

• Previous experience within the car hire, automotive, transport, logistics, or a similar operational industry will be advantageous.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Experience with ERP or accounting systems will be advantageous.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
