About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Trainee Accountant to join a professional accounting environment. This role is ideal for an accounting graduate or candidate currently completing a relevant degree who is looking to develop their practical accounting, tax and financial reporting experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret clients’ accounting records and compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs
- Process monthly transactions for VAT purposes and reconcile records through to trial balance
- Perform tax calculations and complete income tax and provisional tax returns
- Perform VAT and PAYE calculations
- Assist with various client matters and related administrative duties
- Investigate and resolve client queries, including SARS-related queries
- Provide general accounting and financial support to clients
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting or equivalent accounting degree
- Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Xero will be advantageous
- Strong self-management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English
- Strong attention to detail
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
