We are looking for a reliable and experienced Trailer Mechanic / Maintenance Technician to join our transport team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing our trailer fleet to ensure all trailers remain safe, roadworthy, and operational.
Duties & Responsibilities
Role Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on trailers.
- Inspect trailers and identify mechanical, electrical, structural, and other faults.
- Perform regular servicing and ensure trailers are maintained according to required standards.
- Conduct fault-finding and diagnose issues efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Carry out welding, fabrication, and structural repairs where required.
- Perform spray painting and general bodywork repairs to maintain trailers in good condition.
- Inspect and repair trailer components such as brakes, suspension, axles, lights, doors, landing legs, and other related equipment.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed safely and to a high standard.
- Report major defects or repairs requiring additional parts, equipment, or specialist attention.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Keep accurate records of repairs, servicing, and maintenance performed.
- Assist with maintaining the overall roadworthiness and reliability of the company's trailer fleet.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Key Experience Required
- Proven experience in trailer mechanical repairs and maintenance .
- Practical experience with welding and fabrication .
- Experience in spray painting and trailer body repairs .
- Knowledge of general trailer servicing and maintenance .
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills .
- Good understanding of trailer mechanical systems, components, and roadworthiness requirements
Requirements
- Relevant workshop or mechanical experience, preferably within a transport or fleet environment.
- A relevant trade qualification will be advantageous but is not essential.
- Previous experience as a Trailer Mechanic or similar position will be advantageous.
- V alid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
- Reliable, hardworking, and responsible attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet maintenance deadlines.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Contactable references from previous employers.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety in the workplace.
