- To provide administrative support to the Theatre Department and Day ward, ensuring the efficient coordination of theatre bookings, accurate documentation and billing processes and the smooth day-to-day operation of the unit while supporting quality patient care.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Ensure that the correct patient details are captured when processing theatre chit forms.
- Ensure that all items of stock and equipment used are billed accurately to prevent stock variances.
- Ensure adequate time is scheduled between cases, taking into consideration theatre cleaning, preparation and coordination of equipment and supplies.
- Support the Case Manager by ensuring that all special items required for procedures are authorized by the relevant medical aid.
- Perform administrative duties related to the Theatre, including theatre bookings.
- Assist the Unit Manager and/or Team Leader with administrative, clerical, and secretarial duties.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including Senior Management, Scrub Nurses, CSSD Attendants, Surgical Stores staff, Doctors' Rooms, and Porters.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as reasonably required.
- Support to the hospital admissions clerk when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12/Matric certificate.
- Experience in a medical environment.
- Computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office Word Excel, emails, and scanning.
- Preferably have Theatre experience, or Hospital / Medical experience.
- Preferably have Delta 9, CPT and CPD coding experience.
- Preferably have a tertiary qualification in administration.
- Ability to function well under pressure.

- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and theatre administration.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Teamwork with the ability to work independently when required.
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- Knowledge of medical aid authorisation and billing processes will be advantageous.
