Are you a young Engineer with a passion for developing innovative, technically sound solutions within the Water, Waste or Energy sectors ?
Our client is looking for a Tender Engineer to join their Sales & Tendering team and play a key role in developing high-quality, commercially competitive proposals for projects across these industries.
This is a great opportunity for a young engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, process design, commercial modelling and client engagement . You will be involved from the early stages of an opportunity through to the development and submission of technically compliant tenders, working closely with internal teams, clients, suppliers and specialist partners.
The successful candidate will contribute to solutions that are not only technically robust, but also cost-effective, practical, safe and aligned with client requirements .
Duties & Responsibilities
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate the technical preparation of tenders, proposals and quotations , ensuring submissions are accurate, complete and delivered within required timelines.
- Analyse tender documentation and develop a clear understanding of the client's scope, technical requirements, deliverables and contractual obligations.
- Develop appropriate process and treatment solutions , selecting suitable technologies in line with engineering principles and project requirements.
- Produce technical tender documentation including process descriptions, PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, mass balances and equipment schedules .
- Develop and maintain project-related schedules covering equipment, quality control, chemicals, consumables, maintenance and other key requirements.
- Develop commercial and financial models to support competitive and commercially viable pricing.
- Work closely with operations and execution teams to establish realistic life-cycle costs , particularly where onsite services and EPC/project solutions are combined.
- Prepare technical specifications and RFQ documentation for equipment and services.
- Review and technically assess supplier and vendor proposals and provide recommendations.
- Engage with clients to resolve technical queries, clarify requirements and support the development of compliant solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZAN studies and value-engineering activities where required.
- Identify potential project risks, assist with risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
- Support contract preparation and provide input on technical and commercial matters.
- Assist with the establishment and initial monitoring of new projects where required, including supporting plant performance and optimisation activities.
- Ensure proposed solutions meet required safety, quality, regulatory, contractual and performance standards .
- Maintain accurate tender records, CRM information and supporting documentation.
- Prepare presentations, technical reports and meeting minutes as required.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies, engineering tools and developments within the Water, Waste and Energy sectors.
Desired Experience & Qualification
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for an Engineer who combines technical capability with commercial awareness and strong communication skills .
To be considered, you should have
- A BTech or BSc Engineering qualification – Either Civil / Chemical / Mechanical
- 1–3 years' relevant experience within the Water/Wastewater or Energy sector .
- Advantageous : Exposure to water-treatment technologies and Energy Generation.
- An understanding of commercial considerations and project costing .
- The ability to understand technical information and translate it into practical engineering solutions.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities and deadlines.
- Confidence interacting with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Good working knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides .
