Temporary Cost Analyst (Project Role)

Location: Alrode, Gauteng Our client, a leading manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Cost Analyst to join their Operations Finance team on a temporary contract to support a strategic manufacturing costing standardisation project. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional with strong manufacturing costing experience who enjoys analysing data, engaging with operational teams and driving process improvements. Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, validate and analyse manufacturing, engineering and operational data.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing costing models.
  • Analyse labour, machine, material and overhead cost drivers.
  • Extract, cleanse, reconcile and validate large volumes of operational data.
  • Support the calculation and implementation of standard costing methodologies.
  • Investigate cost variances and recommend improvements to costing accuracy.
  • Work closely with Plant Managers, Production, Engineering and Finance teams.
  • Review manufacturing processes and routing structures.
  • Support data collection, testing and implementation activities throughout the project.
  • Prepare analytical reports, dashboards and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Document costing methodologies and maintain project trackers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree, National Diploma or equivalent qualification in:
  • Finance
  • Cost & Management Accounting
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Operations Management
  • Supply Chain
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in manufacturing costing and cost accounting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables and advanced data analysis).
  • Experience analysing large datasets.
  • SAP ERP experience, particularly within manufacturing, finance or costing modules.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly analytical and comfortable working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment. You will be proactive, able to identify opportunities for process improvement, and confident translating complex operational data into meaningful business insights.

Contract Details

  • Temporary project-based contract
  • Based in Alrode, Gauteng
  • Immediate availability will be advantageous.
