- The Installation Technician forms part of a two‑man technical team, consisting of a Technician and an Assistant Technician. Together, the team is responsible for delivering high‑quality hardware and software installations, commissioning, and technical support at both new and existing customer facilities
What you'll do
- Work as a coordinated two‑man unit to perform installation, configuration, and testing of all relevant hardware and software systems.
- Provide on‑site technical support to customers, ensuring stable operation of newly installed and existing systems.
- Ensure all installation activities meet OEM, Site, Customer, and SBT standards.
- Maintain a professional presence at customer sites and uphold all SHER and company compliance requirements.
- Support the broader technical team by assisting Senior Technicians, Team Leaders, and Project Managers where required.
Core Technical Activities
- Perform hardware and software installation, configuration, and maintenance on all relevant systems and equipment, in line with applicable standards OEM, Site, Customer, and SBT.
- Conduct quality inspections during and after installation to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
- Resolve basic hardware-related service calls for existing customers where applicable.
- Request guidance or support when needed to avoid rework and ensure correct first‑time execution.
Stock, Materials & Documentation
- Prepare all required stock, tools, and consumables prior to installation.
- Ensure all stock and consumables are correctly booked to the relevant project or service call.
- Allocate correct stock numbers to projects/calls to support accurate and timely invoicing.
- Ensure faulty customer equipment is booked in for repairs and removed from loan accounts or project allocations.
- Complete and update handover documentation for customer‑to‑customer contracts and stock usage.
Reporting & Administration
- Obtain the necessary delivery notes or acceptance certificates upon completion of installations.
- Update all relevant systems daily with accurate information relating to work completed.
- Provide daily feedback to the Technical Team Leader or Project Manager on progress, issues, and next steps.
- Compile reports when required for project, service, or operational purposes.
- Complete timesheets, documentation, and reporting
- Submit weekly timesheets and vehicle log sheets as per company requirements.
Collaboration & Support
- Provide assistance to Support Technicians, Senior Technicians, Technical Team Leaders, and Project Managers as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the broader technical team to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all SHER requirements, ensuring safe working practices and professional appearance on site.
- Follow all Group Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines PSPGs
- Ensure installation timelines and standards are met to deliver within the quoted project timeframe.
Your Expertise
- At least 2 years of function‑related technical experience within the relevant discipline CCTV, Access Control, Time & Attendance, Fire Systems, or related electronic security fields.
- Demonstrated experience in hardware and software installation, commissioning, and basic fault‑finding.
- Practical exposure to customer‑site work, including adherence to safety, compliance, and documentation standards.
- Experience working as part of a technical field team Technician + Assistant Technician is advantageous.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 Matric or equivalent College Diploma
- PSIRA Certification appropriate grade for the role

- Relevant technical courses and practical experience
- CCTV Systems installation, configuration, fault‑finding
- Access Control Systems hardware, controllers, readers, software
- Fire Systems / SAQCC Certification
- Time & Attendance Systems
- Cabling Competency RS485, RS422, RS232, Wiegand, OSDP, UTP, fibre, coax, terminations, standards
