Main Purpose of the Job

  • The role combines site supervision, advanced technical troubleshooting, maintenance management and team leadership. The successful employee will provide technical direction to Field Service Technicians, oversee installations and commissioning, lead complex fault-finding and root cause investigations, and ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements, engineering specifications, company standards and Service Level Agreements SLAs.

Education, experience and competencies

  • Qualified Artisan Red Seal in Electrical, Automotive Electrical or a related trade.
  • N6 / National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant technical experience, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • Minimum 1–2 years' supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience in the installation, maintenance, fault-finding and troubleshooting of electronic/electrical systems.
  • Experience working with mining equipment and collision prevention/safety systems.
  • PDS and Collision Prevention Systems.
  • BEAMS and relevant company products and systems.
  • Certificates of Compliance COCs.
  • Installation and maintenance specifications.
  • Engineering standards and Section 21 requirements.
  • MHSA and OHSA requirements.
  • Root Cause Analysis RCA.
  • Risk assessments and incident reporting.
  • Service Level Agreements SLAs.
  • Technical auditing and compliance.
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • BECS and/or relevant ERP/operational systems.
  • BEAMS and the ability to interpret relevant system data.
  • Technical and operational reporting systems.
  • Basic SQL/database or reporting-tool knowledge will be advantageous.
  • Medically fit to work on mining sites and conduct physical inspections.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between sites when required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Valid Code 8 or Code 10 driver's licence and own transport s and minimizing rework.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead daily site operations and supervise the technical team.
  • Ensure SLA, maintenance and service delivery targets are achieved.
  • Plan and allocate maintenance activities, shifts and resources.
  • Coordinate breakdown response and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.
  • Oversee COC-related maintenance and compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical escalation and advanced fault-finding support.
  • Diagnose complex electrical/electronic system faults and failures.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis RCA and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify recurring issues and drive preventative solutions.
  • Provide technical feedback and recommendations to Engineering and management.
  • Oversee system installations, configuration and commissioning.
  • Ensure installations meet engineering specifications, Section 21 requirements and company standards.
  • Test and validate systems prior to handover.
  • Identify and resolve installation defects and quality issues.
  • Conduct monthly technical audits and ensure findings are actioned.
  • Monitor system performance, reliability and technical compliance.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and recurring failure trends.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on system upgrades and technical improvements.
  • Lead, coach and mentor Field Service Technicians.
  • Allocate work and monitor team performance, productivity and compliance.
  • Identify skills gaps and provide on-the-job technical training.
  • Ensure technicians remain competent in company systems, products and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with MHSA, OHSA, Section 21 requirements, customer standards and company policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Maintain site safety and legal compliance requirements.
  • Drive corrective actions and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Support the implementation, testing and rollout of new technologies and system updates.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide field-based technical feedback to Engineering.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and site stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and communicate system performance, breakdowns and corrective actions.
  • Support the Account Manager with technical input and customer requirements.
  • Ensure required BECS, SAGE and Tech App administration is completed.
  • Maintain accurate technical, maintenance, audit and compliance records.
  • Prepare required service and COC reports.
  • Manage site spares, tools, PPE and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
