Technical Sales Specialist – Engineering / Mining

Position Overview

A well-established precision engineering and heavy industrial equipment company specialising in the design, manufacture, refurbishment, repair and supply of grinding mills, girth gears, pinions, industrial gearboxes, rotary kilns, dryers and associated mill components requires an experienced Technical Sales Specialist.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and growing business within the mining, mineral processing and heavy industrial sectors, providing technically sound solutions for new equipment, replacement components, refurbishment, repairs and engineered upgrades.

This is a consultative technical sales role requiring a strong understanding of mechanical power transmission, rotating equipment and heavy engineering applications. The incumbent will work closely with mine engineering and maintenance personnel, project teams, procurement departments and consulting engineers to identify equipment requirements, shutdown opportunities, refurbishment projects and capital equipment requirements.

Minimum requirements

• A relevant technical qualification is strongly preferred, such as:

Mechanical Engineering Degree / BTech / Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

/ National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Trade qualification combined with substantial heavy engineering experience

• A formal Sales, Marketing or Business Management qualification would be advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel regularly to mines, processing plants and customer sites.
• Comfortable working within mining and heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to comply with mine-specific medical, induction and safety requirements.
• Willingness to travel nationally and, where required, into the Southern African / SADC mining region.
• The Technical Sales Specialist should be comfortable discussing equipment and components associated with: Ball mills | SAG mills | AG mills | Rod mills | Girth gears | Pinions and pinion shafts | Mill shells | Trunnions | Bearings and bearing housings | Gearboxes | Drive arrangements | Couplings | Shafts | Kilns and dryers | Associated fabricated and machined components
• A sound understanding of mechanical power transmission, gearing, rotating equipment and heavy engineering principles will be important.
• Previous experience selling directly to mines, mineral processing plants, EPCM companies and heavy industrial customers would be highly advantageous.
• Ideally 510+ years' technical sales/business development experience within one or more of the following environments:
• Mining equipment | Mineral processing equipment | Grinding mills | Girth gears and pinions
• Industrial gearboxes | Mechanical power transmission | Rotating equipment | Heavy engineering
• Precision machining | Mining equipment refurbishment | Capital equipment | Engine
