Job Title: Technical Sales Representative Start Date: 2026-08-04 - 2026-09-03 Vacancy Type: Permanent SCI000109 Sectors: Science Sales and Marketing Food Industry Location: Northern Cape , Upington Salary: Brief: A company offering analytical and microbiology services in the fresh produce and agricultural sector requires a Technical Sales Representative to join their team in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the Northern Cape. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Win new business from current and new clients by selling all company services. Increase sales throughout the Northern Cape territory implementing the strategy for growth and for the evolution of the business in the territory whilst continually reviewing and expanding the network to support the customer's needs and actively take market share from the competitors. Actively increase the client base through sales activities and in particular cold calling, and conversion of new trade leads. Develop and maintain professional selling skills and technical service expertise with available training on company services, emerging technologies, industry trends and regulatory requirements. Provide information to clients to create and maintain professional image as technical leaders in the industry. Write and present professional business proposals and quotations. Follow up all business proposals and quotations. Maintain client files within CRM system, documenting significant meetings, telephone calls and the status of sales opportunities. Establish strong relationships with clients at various levels, with key business and technical contacts. Gather market and customer information and provide feedback on future buying trends. Participate in regular sales conference calls, divisional/national sales training events, trade shows and conventions as applicable. Provide the National Sales Manager with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities and potential for new business. In consultation with National Sales Manager, plan and implement promotions introducing new products to customers. Detail: Key Requirements: Relevant scientific or agricultural qualification. A broad knowledge of food safety programs and systems including environmental monitoring, finished product sampling, HACCP, food microbiology and food chemistry required. Previous sales experience in the same industry will be beneficial. Willing to travel to clients within the Northern Cape. Driver's license essential. Additional Requirements: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Computer literate Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
