Introduction

The Electrical Intern will support the Group Facilities Management team by assisting with electrical/mechanical (HVAC)/electronic maintenance, inspections, and project-related tasks. This role provides hands-on experience in electrical systems, mechanical (HVAC) systems, electronic systems, building compliance, and infrastructure maintenance, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Main job function

Assist in maintenance of company facilities infrastructure, ensuring all systems function correctly.

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of facilities equipment to identify faults or inefficiencies.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities, working with technicians to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of facility infrastructure components.
  • Document maintenance activities and compile reports on facilities infrastructure system performance.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and compliance regulations within the facility.
  • Work closely with the Facilities team and external contractors on facility infrastructure projects.
  • Assist in energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability projects within the organisation.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

National Diploma/Degree in Electrical/Mechanical (HVAC) Engineering or related qualification

Criteria

Basic understanding of electrical/mechanical & electronic systems, maintenance, and safety regulations

  • Previous experience (internship, practical training, or coursework) in electrical/mechanical (HVAC) work (advantageous)

Strong technical aptitude in electrical/mechanical/electronic systems

  • Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and compliance standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
