The Wave Owner is responsible for the end-to-end management and coordination of cutover activities for servers within their assigned move group during cloud migration waves. This role serves as the central point of accountability for ensuring successful migration execution, from initial planning through hypercare support.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end cutover activities for assigned server migration waves.
- Coordinate migration planning, execution, and post-migration hypercare.
- Review, validate, and track cutover plans, dependencies, and critical milestones.
- Engage business, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure migration readiness.
- Coordinate completion of pre-cutover activities such as AD groups, DNS, firewall requests, and account provisioning.
- Schedule and lead cutover planning and execution meetings.
- Monitor migration progress and provide regular status reports to stakeholders.
- Identify, track, and mitigate migration risks and issues.
- Obtain required sign-offs for cutover plans, migration completion, and hypercare.
- Support issue resolution during hypercare and ensure smooth transition to operational support.
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvements to the migration process.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- 5–10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure, Cloud Migration, Data Centre Migration, or Project/Program Delivery.
- Proven experience managing server migration waves, cutover planning, and execution.
- Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies and infrastructure components (Windows/Linux servers, networking, storage, Active Directory, DNS, firewalls).
- Experience coordinating cross-functional technical teams and business stakeholders.
