Technical Administrator - PCB / Electronics Cape Town I Tokai
A specialist printed circuit board (PCB) business is looking for a Technical Administrator to join its CAM engineering team. You'll be the control point for RFQs, engineering queries and technical documentation. Your job is to keep technical data complete, accurate and traceable from the first quote through to production. You'll report to the Senior CAM Engineer. What you'll do
• Coordinate incoming RFQs. You'll identify the customer and workflow, classify each request (new part number, revision, repeat order, ECP or factory transfer) and assign it to the right CAM Engineer. • Search the ERP, document management system and historical records before creating any new item or part number. Create numbers to company convention, with zero duplicates. • Set up and maintain folder structures, and file Gerbers, drawings, specifications and customer documentation in the correct locations. • Prepare Technical Data Sheets for standard PCB technologies for approval, and update historical data sheets in the technical database. • Prepare and verify stencil (paste) files so they're ready for immediate customer release. • Run the Engineering Query (EQ) process. You'll keep the EQ register up to date daily, prepare and issue EQs, track response dates, follow up with customers, and escalate anything that needs engineering judgement. • Maintain revision control, naming conventions and factory allocation records across the ERP, document management system and technical database. • Keep a single register of all technical work: RFQs, EQs, stack-up requests, ECPs, factory transfers and corrective actions. Track due dates and report on open items, ageing and bottlenecks. What you'll need
• Grade 12 (Matric) • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role in a technical, engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally in the PCB or electronics industry • Proven experience in document control and revision management • A working understanding of ERP systems • Exposure to CAM software (advantageous) • Advanced MS Office skills • Excellent written and spoken English • Meticulous attention to detail, and the confidence to chase information until a task is closed This is a full-time position, and some flexibility in working hours is required.
