Job Title: Teacher Assistant 4 Month fixed contract Start Date: 2026-08-31 - 2026-09-30 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB003559 Sectors: Teacher Location: Mpumalanga , Kruger National Park Salary: (Market related) Brief: The Teacher's Assistant will support the lead teacher in providing a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment for children residing at or associated with a 5-star game lodge. The role may involve assisting with educational activities, childcare, outdoor learning and enrichment programmes while maintaining the high standards of service, professionalism and child safety expected in a luxury lodge environment. Key Duties and Responsibilities Educational Support Assist the teacher with preparing and presenting daily lessons and activities. Provide individual and small-group support to children. Assist children with reading, writing, numeracy and other learning activities. Prepare teaching aids, worksheets and classroom materials. Help monitor children's academic progress and participation. Assist with marking basic tasks and maintaining learner records. Encourage creativity, curiosity and independent learning. Classroom Management Assist in maintaining a structured, organised and stimulating classroom. Supervise children during lessons and activities. Help manage behaviour positively and consistently. Ensure classrooms and learning areas are clean, safe and well prepared. Set up and pack away learning materials and equipment. Child Supervision and Care Supervise children during breaks, meals, outings and recreational activities. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times. Provide emotional support and encouragement where required. Assist children with developing social skills and confidence. Report behavioural, emotional or developmental concerns to the teacher or management. Lodge and Outdoor Learning Environment Assist with nature-based and environmental education activities. Support supervised outdoor learning experiences. Help organise educational games, arts and crafts, storytelling and cultural activities. Assist with age-appropriate wildlife, conservation and environmental awareness programmes. Ensure strict safety procedures are followed during outdoor activities. Administration Assist with attendance registers and learner records. Prepare and organise teaching resources. Photocopy, print and file educational materials. Assist with communication and administrative tasks as required. Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families. Guest Service Interact professionally and warmly with parents and lodge guests. Represent the lodge's values and high service standards. Assist with special children's programmes and family activities where required. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanour at all times. Detail: Qualifications and Requirements Matric / Grade 12 essential. Certificate or Diploma in Education, Early Childhood Development (ECD), Childcare or a related field advantageous. Studying towards a B.Ed. or teaching qualification would be beneficial. Previous experience working with children in a school, preschool, childcare facility, lodge or similar environment. First Aid and CPR certification advantageous. Police clearance / clear criminal record essential. Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding principles. Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. Required Skills and Competencies Genuine passion for working with children. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy and emotional maturity. Strong organisational and planning skills. Ability to work well as part of a team. Creativity and initiative. Ability to manage groups of children.
