Job Summary: The Tax Administrative Assistant will provide essential support to the Tax Practitioner by managing administrative workflows and ensuring all SARS-related documentation is accurate and submitted within deadlines. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong eFiling knowledge who can navigate administrative complexities with professionalism. Duties and Responsibilities
- SARS Compliance & Documentation: Prepare and gather documentation for Registered Representative appointments for Companies and Trusts.
- Appointment Management: Collate and organize all relevant information required for SARS appointments.
- eFiling Administration: Manage the preparation of supporting documentation for updating banking details on the eFiling platform.
- Registration & Deregistration: Gather and verify necessary information for tax registrations and deregistrations across various entities.
- Return Submissions: Compile supporting documentation for Individual and Trust tax return submissions.
- Tax Maintenance: Ensure the internal tax database is kept up to date and accurate.
- Direct Submissions: Prepare and submit nil or dormant tax returns for Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
- Liaison & Support: Conduct telephonic follow-ups with the SARS call centre and assist with general eFiling queries.
- General Administration: Manage client communications, filing, and document control to support the broader tax compliance function.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- A basic qualification in Administration or Bookkeeping is considered a distinct advantage.
- Proven experience navigating the SARS eFiling system is very important.
- Fundamental understanding of South African tax types, including Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
Ideal Candidate Profile: The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational abilities and a high degree of self-discipline. Given the nature of tax work, a critical eye for detail and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality are required. You should be a professional communicator capable of managing pressure while adhering to strict statutory deadlines.
