Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tailings Design Engineer to join their growing civil engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about tailings storage facilities, water management systems, and civil infrastructure within the mining sector.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and evaluation of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs).
- Prepare engineering designs, calculations, technical reports, and drawings.
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction and operational phases.
- Support dam safety assessments, monitoring programs, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with stormwater management, earthworks, and related civil engineering projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical engineers, surveyors, environmental specialists, and project managers.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to project delivery within specified timelines and budgets.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 2–3 years' experience in tailings engineering, geotechnical engineering, water engineering, or related mining infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of tailings facility design principles and dam engineering concepts.
- Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar engineering software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to mine sites when required.
- Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer will be advantageous.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
