Tactical (Technical) Purchaser with Diploma/Degree

• 5+ years experience in procurement, purchasing or sourcing, including technical or strategic procurement. • A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Diploma/Degree . • Experience with mechanical estimating, proposals, tenders or project costing . • The ability to work from engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials (BOMs) . • Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing pricing, quality and delivery. • ERP experience and strong Excel skills. Experience in heavy engineering, manufacturing, mining, marine, fabrication sourcing, capital equipment or project procurement is particularly relevant. You should be comfortable dealing with both local and international suppliers. IFS experience is preferred; SAP experience is advantageous. A CIPS or other recognised procurement qualification is also sought. What youll be doing Youll request and compare quotations, evaluate suppliers, negotiate terms and place orders for technical items. Youll use your estimating skills to check costs, support tenders and proposals, and identify better sourcing options. Youll plan for long-lead items, track orders and deliveries, manage supply risks, and keep procurement records accurate in the ERP system. Youll work closely with Engineering, Projects, the Workshop, Logistics, Finance, Quality and Operations to make sure the right items arrive at the right time and meet the required specification.
