Start free — we apply for you →Job Title: Tactical (Technical) Purchaser Start Date: 2026-08-27 - 2026-09-26 Vacancy Type: Permanent CPT001305 Sectors: Engineering and Technical Marine/Boat Building Industry Oil and gas / Energy sector Location: Western Cape , Cape Town Salary: R35k - R45k Monthly (Plus 13th cheque upon permanent appointment) Brief: An international maritime technology and engineering group operating across the dredging, offshore, mining and defence sectors is looking for an experienced Tactical (Technical) Purchaser to join its Procurement team in Cape Town. Detail: The successful candidate will manage the sourcing and procurement of technical components, equipment, project items, spare parts, services and raw materials , while managing suppliers, negotiations, costs and delivery timelines. Minimum Requirements 5+ years' experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing or supply chain. Experience in engineering, manufacturing, mining, marine, industrial or project-based environments . Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field . Strong supplier management and commercial negotiation experience. Solid understanding of procurement and supply chain processes. ERP experience – IFS preferred; SAP advantageous . Advanced Microsoft Office, particularly Excel . Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills. Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings and commercial documentation . Advantageous Mechanical estimating experience. Proposal/tender preparation experience. Mechanical trade qualification. Fabrication, project or capital equipment procurement experience. Mining, marine, manufacturing or heavy engineering experience. CIPS or recognised procurement qualification . Key Responsibilities Manage RFQs, supplier evaluations, bid comparisons and supplier selection . Source technical components, equipment, raw materials, services and spares. Identify alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities . Review technical specifications, BOMs and engineering drawings. Develop procurement plans and manage long-lead items and supply risks . Monitor purchase orders, supplier performance and delivery schedules. Build and manage local and international supplier relationships . Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery and contractual conditions. Conduct market research, benchmarking and cost analysis. Manage procurement transactions and reporting through ERP systems . Work closely with Engineering, Projects, Workshop, Logistics, Finance, Quality and Operations . What's on Offer?
